
She is reportedly joining a brand new social experiment on Channel 5 called The Sentence: You Will be the Judge.
Countdown and Weakest Link star Anne Robinson to join new Channel 5 social experiment
Anne Robinson is well-known for her roles on Countdown and the Weakest Link (Image: PA) The Channel 5 programme will see four real-life sentencing hearings recreated so that participants can decide the sentence the convicted criminal should get.
The actual sentence given by the presiding judge will then be revealed. They will also have to compare their assessments against four other groups judging alongside them.
According to The Sun, these groups will be comprised of retired judges, former police officers, victims’ relatives and former inmates.
Speaking about her new role, Anne Robinson said: “Why is the sentencing of criminals so widely inconsistent?

“Why does a protester who climbs up a bridge to stop the traffic spend more time in prison than someone who punches an innocent man who dies as a result?
“This programme tells a jaw-dropping story. The government needs to watch it.”
Anne Robinson joined Countdown all the way back in 2021 before quitting the programme in 2022.

Discussing the role a few years ago, she said: “I am beyond thrilled to be joining Countdown. The show is almost as old as I am and just as historic.
“I am particularly excited to be working alongside the show’s two other formidable women.
“Worryingly, Susie and Rachel are not only very smart but younger, prettier and thinner than me. Sadly, there’s no time for another face lift so I’ll have make do with this old one.”
