CHICAGO – A woman died after being shot in the chest Sunday morning in South Shore.
Chicago police said the shooting happened just before 5:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of East 79th Street.
Officers were sent to the area to investigate reports of a person who had been shot and found an unresponsive 29-year-old woman who had been shot in the chest, according to investigators.
Police said the woman was taken to University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition. She later died from her injuries.
No arrests have been made and Area Four Detectives are investigating.
