Troopers identify suspect after Thursday search in Lake George

LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Paterson, New Jersey man has been arrested following the State Police’s search for a suspect in Lake George on Thursday. This search closed down a section of Route 9.

Troopers identified the suspect as Onyx Calderon, 24. It is alleged that Calderon stole a vehicle on State Route 9 in Plattsburgh on Thursday.

State Police said the suspect fled from police and headed south, making his way into Lake George. The vehicle eventually stopped on the shoulder of I-87 in Lake George but the suspect fled on foot, prompting the search.

Calderon was found near the shoulder of I-87 and arrested. State Police reported learning that Calderon was also the passenger in a vehicle pursuit in Plattsburgh the day before his arrest.

The suspect was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, and being a fugitive from justice for felony burglary. Calderon was arraigned and placed in the Warren County Correctional Facility.

State Police in Plattsburgh are applying for an arrest warrant for Calderon for his involvement in the vehicle pursuit from Wednesday to continue their investigation.
