Yoga Brunch fundraiser for Falastin Film Fest

The Palestinian Film Festival will be holding their first fundraiser of the year at Lila Yoga in Bruntsfield.

Those who join can enjoy a one-hour yoga session, followed by a Palestinian vegetarian and vegan brunch.

Proceeds will go towards the second edition of the Falastin Film Fest, set to take place in May this year.

North Edinburgh Film Festival this weekend

Saturday, 22 February, 11:00 – 17:00, West Pilton Neighbourhood Centre, 19 West Pilton Grove, EH4 4BY

The third edition of the North Edinburgh Film Festival returns this weekend.

The free event celebrates community cinema and film-making, programmed and planned by local residents.

Expect family-friendly screenings of locally-made films, insightful workshops, art installations and delicious food.

Tarot Readings at Kafe Kweer

Thursday, 27 February, 16:30 – 19:00, Kafe Kweer, 5 St. Peter’s Buildings, EH3 9PG

Award winning cafe and LGBTQ+ friendly venue Kafe Kweer is bringing back its iconic tarot readings, which have proven popular in the past.

Owner and part-time drag queen Mystika Glamoor will be giving 10 minute intuitive readings next Thursday – with time slots at £15 each.

Free community meal in Bruntsfield tonight

Friday, 21 February, 19:30, ESHC Basement, 34 Wright’s Houses, EH10 4HR

The Bruntsfield Area Net Zero Action Initiative (BANZAI), will be hosting a free community meal tonight, with vegan and gluten free options available.

Teaming up with the Edinburgh Student Housing Co-op, they will be offering delicious home cooked food and great company.

Everyone is welcome and will be fed on a first come first served basis, so registration beforehand is advised.

Seachdain na Gàidhlig – Gaelic Week starts on Monday

24 February – 2nd March, Various locations/Online

In conjunction with World Gaelic Week, which celebrates Scottish Gaelic across the globe, the University of Edinburgh and City of Edinburgh Council will be holding events across the capital.

Learners, fluent speakers, and anyone interested in the language can gather at one of the conversational events (some of which continue throughout the year), or can attend talks and workshops exploring the rich Gaelic cultural traditions of the country.

Cargo Bike Movement teaches Bike Security

Tuesday, February 25th, 17:00 – 19:00, Cargo Bike Movement Hub, 141 Lauriston Place

The Cargo Bike Movement will be hosting a vital workshop on bike security next week, in collaboration with Porty Community Energy and Wee Spoke Hub.

Speakers will give tips for how to ensure the safety of your bike, and Police Scotland will be present with tools for marking and protecting bikes.

They will also provide a guide on how to use the national cycle database, BikeRegister.

Discounts on bike locks will also be offered and any questions can be answered by the presenters on the day.
