Watch: Seattle Space Needle lights up for CSU Rams ahead of second-round game

DENVER (KDVR) — Colorado State University Rams fans left their mark on Seattle as the iconic Seattle Space Needle lit up green and gold Saturday ahead of the Rams’ second-round NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament game.

Seattle’s world-famous landmark held the first ever “Fans Win Seattle” showdown to decide which team’s colors the Space Needle would don, with fans of eight teams able to vote in person from the top of the tower and online. CSU Rams fans showed out and nearly doubled the second-place contest winner, the Grand Canyon Antelopes, giving the Rams 5,138 votes.

CSU Athletics shared the occasion on social media, posting a video of the Rams’ mascot pushing the button that illuminated Seattle’s skyline Saturday night.

The Rams take on the No. 4 seed Maryland Terrapins at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle Sunday after upsetting the No. 5 seed Memphis Tigers in the first round of March Madness.

The Rams vs. Terrapins game starts at 5:10 p.m. Mountain Time.
