Homicide investigators with the Vancouver Police Department say they have identified several suspects in an assault that led to the death of a 92-year-old senior.

Police say the victim was a Chinatown resident who was discovered in medical distress in an alley behind the Carnegie Community Centre at Main and East Hastings streets on the afternoon of March 18.

The senior was taken to hospital by ambulance. He passed away on March 31.

“We share the community’s grief over this loss of life and we understand there are many questions,” said Const. Tania Visintin, VPD media relations officer, in a news release.

“Information about this death will undoubtedly impact peoples’ sense of safety and community in Chinatown. Although it will take time, we are committed to finding all of the answers.”

The VPD did not say if any of the suspects identified have been arrested.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the VPD Homicide Unit.
