Theatregoers ‘gutted’ as Six performance cancelled with ten minutes notice

The popular musical was set to kick off at 8pm tonight (December 20) at the Stockton Globe – but was axed due to “cast illness” with very little notice.

Featuring all six of Henry VIII’s wives, the story is a spunky musical retelling of their stories centred around powerful ballads and is set to be on at the globe until January 2.

But, attendees were left stunned when a statement appeared on the theatre’s page – 14 minutes before curtain call.

The statement reads: “Tonight’s 8pm performance of SIX the Musical has unfortunately been cancelled due to cast illness.

“We will be in touch via email regarding moving your booking to another performance if possible.

“We will do everything we can to support you as quickly as we can. We would be very grateful if you could wait to be contacted and will be in touch as soon as possible.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding.”

Those who were set to attend the show have hit out at the theatre in the comments – slamming the short notice as “shocking”.

One man commented: “Utterly ridiculous this is just posted now, we had to rock up at the venue 7:25pm to find this out after having travelled.

Theatregoers ‘gutted’ as Six performance cancelled with ten minutes notice

“Not much of an explanation just two people (they said queens) are Ill but somehow weren’t too ill to do the 5pm one and what there are no understudies?”

Others were sympathetic and wished the cast members well, with many hoping their show isn’t cancelled in the coming days.

It is not known whether upcoming shows will be affected.
