Signs go up for new Asian restaurant Wok n Roll at Bishop Auckland Retail Park

Wok n Roll is set to open its doors in Bishop Auckland Retail Park in the coming weeks, it has been revealed, as construction at the unit nears its end.

Brought to the town by the same family who operates TAO in Darlington, Wok n Roll will be between The Bake and Uno Momento – the latter of which is still under construction.

Aden Yap, local to Bishop Auckland, is one of the new mangers of Wok n Roll – and told The Northern Echo that they’re hoping to bring a different type of cuisine to the town.

“It’s been almost a year in the making – ever since we identified an opportunity here at Bishop Auckland Retail Park.

“Locals have said they struggled to get specific food like sushi, ramen, pad thai and more so we want to offer something different.

Now developers plan to add another three retail units, a petrol station, and more car parking as part of a further multimillion-pound project.

A Prestige Properties spokesperson said: “The Phase 2 scheme will deliver three additional retail warehouse units with a total floor area of approximately 8,000 sq.m, as well as a new petrol filling station.

“The proposals represent a further multi-million-pound investment in the local area and, once complete, will generate in the region of 300 jobs across a range of roles building on the undoubted success of Phase 1 by accommodating further national retailers not currently represented in the town, meaning residents will no longer have to travel elsewhere to visit such outlets.”
