Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say a one-year-old child and 66-year-old woman died in a fire in Trenton Thursday evening. Three other people were injured.

Police said in a social media post Friday morning emergency crews were called just before 6 p.m. to Old Highway 2 just east of CFB Trenton and found a residential trailer engulfed in flames.

An adult and two children ages seven and nine escaped the fire, police said.

A 64-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, and the two children were also taken to hospital to be treated for non life-threatening injuries.

The names of the victims have not been released.

OPP said it’s investigating with the fire marshal and chief coroner’s offices.
