(KRON) — Santa Clara police said a tire theft suspect carrying a loaded gun magazine tried to make a fast getaway from officers but was soon taken into custody.
Santa Clara PD said a watchful neighbor reached out to police at 12:09 a.m. Monday to report a burglary suspect stealing tires off work vans in the 1600 block of Russell Avenue.
Police said when officers arrived, they located the suspect throwing items over a fence into bushes. Officers said a canvas of the area recovered a handgun.
Santa Clara police confirmed a search of the suspect’s vehicle turned up a holster, another loaded magazine and methamphetamine.
