Huge needle pulled out of dog’s paw as owner urges others to be careful – Deadline News

A DOGWALKER has urged others to “be careful” after pulling a huge needle out of her dog’s paw.
Whilst walking through an Edinburgh cemetery, the owner noticed her dog limping and looked down to see a large medical needle poking out of her paw.
The poor pooch was said to be “bleeding quite heavily for five to ten minutes” after the sharp object was gouged out.
The incident was soon shared online to warn others of the potential of clinical litter in some areas and risk of infection to pets.

Concerned local Natalie Ferguson was walking her dog, Bella, through Leith’s Eastern Cemetery on Drum Terrace when she noticed that she had started limping.
She said: “As I was exiting the cemetery, my dog Bella started limping, which she sometimes does as she’s quite elderly, but this time she seemed to be in a lot of pain.
“I bent down to check her back paw and saw there was a piece of blue plastic stuck between her toes.
“I pulled on it and realised it was a needle that was all the way inside her foot.
“She was bleeding quite heavily for five to ten minutes afterwards.”
She decided to share pictures of the incident online, showing the large needle after being pulled out of Bella’s paw and the blood that was left on the pavement.
She said: “I’ve just pulled this needle out of my dog’s paw in the Eastern cemetery on Drum Terrace.
“Please be careful if you are in there. I’ve let the owners know too.”
The post received over 260 likes and 60 comments from locals worried for the dog and shocked that such a large, sharp object was left discarded in the area.
One person said: “Hope your dog is okay, please go to the vet as dirty needles can cause numerous issues.”
Another commented: “This has infuriated me.
“My dad, uncle and grandad are laid to rest in here and I’m here often with my small child.
“Absolutely disgusting humans. Hope your dogs are okay.”
A third responded: “Keep an eye on your dog, anything seems suspicious take him to the vet as soon as possible.
“Junkies needles are not a joke and can cause serious issues.
“Hope your dog is okay.”
Natalie confirmed that Bella was rushed to the vet to figure out if there were any complications from her being impaled by the abandoned needle.
