SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie had a successful campaign last fall in his election win. Lurie, a 48-year-old nonprofit executive and heir to the Levi’s Strauss fortune, defeated incumbent London Breed.
Despite not having any previous political experience, Lurie edged out Breed by about 33,000 votes, according to city records. San Francisco’s mayoral race utilized ranked-choice voting.
Last month, Lurie was inaugurated and officially sworn in as the 46th mayor of San Francisco. He threw a number of Inauguration Day parties, including one on Chinatown streets headlined by Grammy-nominated DJ Zhu. The streets were packed, and the San Francisco crowd enjoyed the night. However, the reality is someone had to pay for these celebrations.
Thankfully for the Lurie team, about 150 donors combined to raise approximately $2.7 million. The Lurie campaign sent KRON4 a list of donors and their specific contributions toward Inauguration Day activities. The list also includes companies and organizations.
