Lancashire seller gets 14x face value for 50p coin with childhood character on

That’s because some coins are valuable and can be sold for much more than their face value.

An eBay seller in Preston listed a 50p coin with a Winnie the Pooh design on it and got more than 14 times its face value for it.

The coin that sold on eBay for £7.05 is from the 2022 Winnie the Pooh & Friends collection by the Royal Mint.

Winnie the Pooh coins sells on eBay for 14x its face value in Preston

A set of three was available to buy on the Royal Mint’s website, but it is now unavailable for purchase.

The collection featured a 50p coin with Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger and Piglet (like the one sold on eBay), plus a 50p coin with just Eeyore on.

The other 50p coin in the collection has Kanga and Roo on the front of it.



In 2020, Christopher Robin, friend of Winnie the Pooh, 50p coin designs were released by the Royal Mint.

The coins were priced from £10 for a brilliant uncirculated version to £1,125 for a gold coin on the Royal Mint’s website.

They were released a century after the birth of the original Christopher Robin, the son of Winnie the Pooh author AA Milne, who inspired his stories.
