STRASBURG, Colo. (KDVR) — An unspecified number of staff members in the Strasburg school district have been placed on administrative leave, according to an email sent to parents.
FOX31 later received tips from parents who say a student may have been assaulted, although the district has not stated that any such case has occurred. FOX31 obtained a police report showing a complaint listed as a sexual assault involving a child was filed on April 11.
One parent showed FOX31 the email from the district’s superintendent, which read:
“The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority in Strasburg School District 31J. Upon becoming aware of a situation that warrants further investigation, we have placed the staff members involved on administrative leave in accordance with district policy. This necessary step allows us to conduct a thorough and fair investigation while maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all.
We understand that situations like this can be concerning to our families and community. We want to assure you that we are taking this matter seriously.”

A parent told FOX31 she represents others who want reassurance that the case will be thoroughly investigated. She says she is not revealing her identity because she fears retribution from some in the community.
“We don’t know what students are involved, nobody’s saying anything and so that’s nerve-wracking and us as parents, we’re like ‘we moved out here for something smaller,’ like this isn’t Denver and I’m not dogging on Denver, but a lot more incidents happen there than here, you know, but it seems that now they’re happening more so,” she said.
FOX31 reached out to the district but did not receive a statement.
