AUSTIN (KXAN) — Yet another company is trading the west coast for Texas as it relocates its headquarters to the Lone Star State.
Realtor.com announced late last week the relocation of its corporate headquarters to Austin after previously operating in Santa Clara, California. Now, the company is operating out of its location at 900 E. Sixth St., Ste. 500 in east Austin.
Company officials said Realtor.com has earmarked Austin as its “top hiring location” and is working toward building out its team and office footprint within Texas. Prior to the relocation, Realtor.com had expanded its Austin presence via hiring and an Austin-based internship program, adding it will expand out its talent development at its new headquarters in the Texas capital.
A company spokesperson confirmed to KXAN more than 400 Realtor.com employees are already based in Austin, with plans “to hire hundreds more here over coming years.” Targeted hiring areas include technology, engineering, marketing and senior leadership roles, the spokesperson added.
The relocation news came as the company released The Texas State of Real Estate report Thursday, which estimated Texas’ populations would surpass California and become the most populous in the country by 2045.
“Austin and Texas offer a strong and growing talent pool, a powerhouse economy with unparalleled housing growth, affordability of living only matched by its aspirational lifestyle, expansive tech and academic communities, and a dynamic and vibrant city at the heart of the thriving state of Texas,” said Damian Eales, Realtor.com’s CEO, in the announcement. “There is no better place for us to call home. Over the coming years we are committed to growing our presence by hiring great local talent and by bringing new recruits to Texas.”
