
A 25-year-old Champlain Township man has been charged with attempted murder after another man was stabbed in Hawkesbury, Ont., on Thursday, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said.
Police said a 39-year-old man suffered stab wounds during the assault at Pioneers’ Place, a small park near the Ottawa River and the bridge to Quebec.
OPP said an officer from its Hawkesbury detachment was flagged down outside a residence on Main Street E. and told about the stabbing.
Police provided first aid to the victim until paramedics arrived and took over. He was then transported to hospital with serious injuries.
“Officers located [and] arrested a suspect in the area without further incident,” OPP said in a news release.
