Suspect arrested in Rogers Park sexual assault is person of interest in string of West Ridge attacks
A 19-year-old suspect in custody for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman at knife-point late Thursday night in Rogers Park is also a person of interest in a string of robberies and sexual assaults in West Ridge, police confirmed.
Late Thursday, a 21-year-old woman, was walking in an alley in the 1800 block of West Lunt Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. when a man approached her, pulled out a knife and sexually assaulted her, according to Chicago police.
The man fled the scene and the woman went to a police station to report the assault. She was taken to Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in good condition.
Responding officers were able to take a 19-year-old man into custody a police spokesperson confirmed that he is the same person allegedly linked to a string of violent sexual attacks and robberies from December 2024 to April 2025.
The string of attacks happened from Dec. 26, 2024 to April 25, 2025, according to police. In a majority of the attacks, the suspect allegedly robbed the victims at knife-point and in at least three instances sexually assaulted the victim he was robbing.
- Around 2:50 a.m. Dec. 26, 2024, he broke into a home in the 6200 block of North Bell Avenue and allegedly stole items and sexually assaulted the victim.
- Around 11:30 p.m. Jan. 25, he allegeldy burglarized a home in the 2300 block of West Arthur Avenue.
- Around 9 p.m. on March 25, he allegedly robbed a victim at knife-point as she was walking into her home in the 6200 block of North Artesian Avenue.
- About 20 minutes later, he allegedly robbed and sexually assaulted another victim as she walked into her home in the 6200 block of North Oakley Avenue.
- Around 8:55 p.m. April 25, he allegedly robbed and sexually assaulted a third victim that was walking into her home in the 6100 block of North Campbell Avenue.
No charges have been announced.
