Man brought Poundland knife to Glasgow court

Warren Dick, 58, was snared with the blade at the entrance’s security area on March 20, 2023.

Dick was ordered by security staff to put his belongings in a tub before entering a metal scanner.

Prosecutor Jacky Wall said: “The metal detector activated and Dick was asked by security staff if he had anything else in his pockets.

“He said that he had a knife and a red handled knife was recovered from his pocket.

“He stated that he bought the knife from Poundland earlier that morning.”

Police attended and arrested Dick, of the city’s Bridgeton.

He pleaded guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to having the knife in a public place without a reasonable excuse or lawful authority.

Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Michael Hanlon.

The sheriff said: “I am considering all options including custody – you will remain on bail but be in mind I am considering all options.”
