Pioneering energy system providing free electricity to be showcased

The High Backs, a charity providing residential support to vulnerable individuals, won last year’s competition run by Boxergy.

Their prize was a completely free installation of a fully off-grid energy system, providing them with free electricity.

The lack of a reliable or sustainable energy supply made it difficult to provide consistent care and comfort to vulnerable individuals.

The new system has transformed the charity’s operations, providing stability, security, and a more sustainable future for its residents and staff.

The public is invited to an open day on May 22, from 3.30pm to 5.30pm, at The High Backs in Rutherglen.

Entry is free.

The open day offers a chance for charities, local councillors, and the public to see the technology in action, speak to the team behind the project, and learn about the benefits of renewable energy for organisations.

Jim Laidlaw, chief executive officer at Boxergy, said: “We’re proud to have delivered such a pioneering system for a deserving cause.

“This isn’t just about technology, it’s about making energy fairer, cleaner, and more accessible, especially for those making a difference in their communities.”

Refreshments will be served, and guests will have the opportunity to meet representatives from Boxergy, AlphaESS UK, local authorities, and the charity sector.
