However, the work will now be completed by Sunday, May 18.

Due to the delay, ScotRail said that Platform 1 at the East End station will remain closed.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: “Our £1.75million project to rebuild Alexandra Parade’s Platform 1 is taking longer than expected to complete.

“It’ll now reopen for ScotRail services on Sunday, May 18. We’re sorry – we know this is frustrating, and we’re working to complete the job as quickly as possible.”

Meanwhile, a ScotRail spokesperson added: “Due to works taking a little longer than expected, Platform 1 at Alexandra Parade will remain closed until Sunday, 18 May.

“Customers should continue to use the nearby Duke Street station as an alternative.

“Platform 2, for services towards Springburn, remains open for usage.”

In December 2024, we reported how Alexandra Parade was set to undergo a million-pound makeover.

The works will see the demolition and rebuild of Platform 1, new lighting, and the installation of CCTV.
