Schoolgirls’ jewellery designed to protect women wins award

The girls’ idea paired existing tracking technology with jewellery to create a wearable and discreet safety feature.

The pendant, which could be added to a bracelet, necklace, or worn as an earring, would be controlled by an app which holds pre-programmed emergency contact details.

A button attached to the device would send the user’s location to an emergency contact.

Another safety feature includes the ability to input an estimated time of arrival, and if the user doesn’t arrive, emergency contacts are notified.

Their prize includes the opportunity to deliver their pitch at the Scottish EDGE Awards Dinner on 20 May 2025, putting them in front of an ecosystem of Scottish entrepreneurs and business people.

They also have the chance to participate in the University of Strathclyde’s Inspire Summit, and have each received a £100 Amazon voucher as well as a £500 Amazon voucher for their school.
