The rear window of the Audi A4 was smashed in the car park of Hedley House Hotel in Bootham Terrace overnight between Sunday (March 23) and Monday, North Yorkshire Police said.
Makita power tools were stolen from within the vehicle, the force added.
Officers urge anyone who saw the incident to get in touch.
