Fire near railway line causes disruption on trains between Glasgow and Edinburgh

ScotRail has been forced to close the line for the rest of the night. It means many trains going from Glasgow to Edinburgh have been changed. 

The rail operator shared an update which said: “Because of a fire next to the track at Caldercruix, all lines are closed. 

“Disruption is expected until the end of the today. 

“Services between Helensbrugh and Edinburgh and between Mingavie and Edinburgh are unable to run between Airdrie and Bathgate. 

“Services between Helensburgh and Edinburgh will run between Helensburgh and Airdrie and between Bathgate and Edinburgh only. 

“Services between Milngavie and Edinburgh will run between Milngavie and Airdrie and Bathgate and Edinburgh only.”

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has been contacted for comment.
