A vehicle on Bridge Road, Bursledon, was allegedly stolen from at around 3.55am on Sunday morning, February 9.
Police arrived at 4am – and at 4.05am a 42-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on Providence Hill on suspicion of theft from motor vehicle.

A spokesperson for Hedge End Police said: “We just wanted to bring you a quick update following a reported theft from motor vehicle on Bridge Road, Bursledon in the early hours of yesterday morning, Sunday, February 9.
“Not a bad effort by all of the officers involved. Thanks must also go to those who contacted us and reported suspicious activity in the area. A team effort, as always.
“We’ll keep you all updated as much as we’re able to.”
Enquiries into the reported incident are ongoing.
The arrested man has been released on condition police bail, pending these further enquiries.
