Brighton and Hove one of the most dangerous places to drive

Research by Tollwayr analysed data from the Department for Transport between 2018-2023.

This was used to determine which UK areas had the highest average collisions per billion vehicle miles.

Brighton and Hove had an average of 851 collisions per billion vehicle miles, with the most dangerous year having been 2021.

The seaside city placed just below Luton which had 856 collisions, with the top spot going to Blackpool with an average of 976 collisions per billion vehicle miles.

The data also revealed that across all UK areas the average was 335.

CEO of Tollywayr said: “These findings highlight the importance of prioritising road safety measures, especially in areas with higher collision rates.

“While it’s not guaranteed to have a collision driving through any of these areas, you must prioritise your own safety on the road as much as anyone else’s.”
