Richard Smith, 43, is wanted on recall to prison, but officers are also telling the public to steer clear if they see him.
Police have told the public to not approach the man, who is white, around six-foot tall, slim with a dark brown beard and hair.
The 43-year-old was last seen wearing a dark jacket, grey tracksuit bottoms, black trainers and a khaki backpack.

In their latest appeal, police warned the public that deliberately obstructing their attempts to locate Smith means that they may be committing an offence.
They said that anyone harbouring the man could be liable for arrest themselves.
Hampshire Constabulary said: “Can you help us find Richard Smith? The 43-year-old is wanted on recall to prison.
“If you have seen him, or have information regarding his whereabouts, please do not approach him and instead contact police on 999, quoting 44240545360.”
