The delays associated with the Kennedy Expressway construction project aren’t over.
The Illinois Department of Transportation said Friday afternoon that problems with the new automated gates have forced the closure of the ramp from the Ohio Street feeder ramp onto the outbound Kennedy Expressway reversible lanes.
The closure is indefinite.
Drivers can still access the northbound mainline lanes of Interstate 90/94 from Ontario Street. All other gates and access points are operating as usual.
WGN Investigates has previously reported on the troubled reversible lane rehabilitation project. It lasted two months longer than originally planned and IDOT misled the public as about the reasons.
