New SF bar is one of the best in the nation, says Bon Appétit

(KRON) – Esteemed food and entertainment magazine Bon Appétit acknowledged a new San Francisco bar as one of the best.

Bon Appétit describes Prelude at the Jay Hotel as a sexy bar that is romantic, velvety and intimate. Per the bar’s website, the restaurant bar “artfully reinvents classic Southern cuisine through modern culinary techniques” while utilizing local Bay Area ingredients.

The bar’s drink menu is intriguing, with eclectic ingredients for each drink.

The P.F.C. Martini, for example, has Meili Vodka, vermouth, black pepper, black garlic, buttermilk and pickle brine. According to Bon Appétit, the drink is inspired by the taste of fried chicken. Another Prelude concoction is the Magnolia Fizz, which has Greenalls Gin, roasted banana, citrus, dairy, egg white and soda.

A4 Wagyu Striploin, smoked catfish dumplings, Wolfe Ranch quail and more make up the tasting menu.

This is not the first time this year Prelude has been recognized by a top institution. The Michelin Guide recently added the hotel bar to its California Guide.

The bar is only open for four hours from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday nights.
