Arrest made in fatal Central Ave. dog attack

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Police have arrested 44-year-old Omar Daniels in connection to the death of 60-year-old James Provost. Provost was killed when he was attacked by up to nine dogs in the backyard of a home last year.

Omar Daniels was charged with second-degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and three counts of aggravated cruelty to animals. The fatal attack happened at around 5:55 p.m. on Oct. 9, 2024, in the backyard of a home at 594 Central Avenue.

Police said when they arrived, one of the officers discharged his weapon and struck at least one dog, in an attempt to stop the attack.

Daniels was indicted Friday afternoon in Albany County Court. Stick with NEWS10 for updates on this story.
