LEANDER, Texas (KXAN) — Leander Animal Services rescued a feathered friend from being stuck in a mouse trap.
On Friday, March 21, the Leander Animal Services team responded to a call of a hurt Cooper’s Hawk inside an apartment building hallway, according to a Facebook post from the Leander Police Department.
Upon arrival, Animal Service Officer Aguirre spotted little Talonted free from the mouse trap but limping from a hurt foot, according to the post. Officer Aguirre then snuck up on Talonted from the other end of the hall using “cat-like reflexes” to capture the little hawk.
The Leander Animal Services team discovered the little bird had an injured beak and a possible injured foot. Talonted is now a patient at the Moonshine Wildlife Rehabilitation Center receiving treatment.
