A U.S. Border Patrol agent was involved in a shooting Monday afternoon on Interstate 91 about 12 miles from the Canadian border, the Vermont State Police said.
In a statement, the agency provided no additional details, other than saying that the F.B.I. was leading the investigation.
The southbound lanes of Interstate 91 were closed in northern Vermont between the towns of Newport and Orleans, the State Police said, adding that it was “expected to be a long-duration closure.”
