Woman airlifted to hospital after Mission, B.C., crash: RCMP | CBC News

RCMP in Mission, B.C., say a woman was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a crash that closed a stretch of Lougheed Highway in both directions on Thursday morning.

At about 11:30 a.m. PT, a vehicle hydroplaned and struck a vehicle in the oncoming lane, according to Mission RCMP. Police say the initial investigation shows heavy rainfall may have been a factor in the crash.

RCMP said there were two people in each car, and one woman was airlifted to Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, B.C., with serious injuries.

The highway is closed between Nelson and Oliver streets, and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service is investigating the crash, police said in a statement. The highway will remain closed until about 6:30 p.m. PT Thursday. A detour is available along Silverdale Avenue.

DriveBC’s website shows Lougheed Highway remains closed in both directions as of 4 p.m. PT.
