CASTLE ROCK Co. (KDVR) — A Douglas County District Court Judge has ruled that several videos should be released showing the moments before an armed man was killed by deputies.
That decision was made during a hearing at the Douglas County Courthouse Thursday afternoon.
The shooting took place at the Main Event Highlands Ranch family entertainment center overnight Saturday into Sunday, February 9.
Emergency calls to 911 reported an active shooter at the venue.
When Douglas County deputies arrived, investigators said an officer encountered an armed man in the parking lot and 23-year-old Jalin Seabron.
Douglas County investigators arrested the sister of that man, Nevaeha Crowley-Sanders.
The 23-year-old from Denver was taken into custody in connection with a separate shooting that happened inside the main event before Seabron was shot.
Crowley-Sanders faces 104 counts altogether, including five counts of first-degree attempted murder.
She was in court Thursday, asking that her $1 million cash bond be reduced. The judge denied that request.
Prosecutors said she was involved in a fight in the women’s bathroom and shot another woman. An assistant DA said people were running for their lives.
During the hearing, the judge ruled that video, including the officer’s bodycam, dashcam, and outdoor surveillance footage, must be released.
The family of the man killed was in the courtroom saying they wanted that video released.
Seabron’s family attorney Tyrone Glover saw it and says it sheds new light on the case.
“I submit to everyone here, and I think those of us who have seen some of this footage, it’s not consistent with the narrative that’s been coming out of Douglas County sheriff’s office,” Glover said.
Glover says prosecutors will have 72 hours to release that video after Seabron’s family has had a chance to see it.
