London Knights defenceman suspended pending outcome of drunk driving charges | CBC News
The Ontario Hockey League (OHL) says a London Knights player has been suspended after being charged with impaired driving.
The charges stem from a single-vehicle crash that happened early Saturday morning near Colonel Talbot Road and Clayton Walk in the Lambeth area. A car was found with blood on the driver’s side door, and a passenger was taken to hospital with minor injuries. There was also blood leading away from the car, police said.
Cameron Allen, 20, a defenceman for the London Knights, was found and arrested at a nearby address.
“Cam Allen has been suspended pending the outcome of a League review into the events of February 8, 2025, when he was charged by the London Police Service with offences related to impaired driving,” the OHL said in a statement Tuesday.
Allen was also charged with impaired operation exceeding blood alcohol concentration, failing to remain at the scene, failing to report an accident and having a blood alcohol concentration above zero as a novice driver.
Originally from Toronto, Allen is a Washington Capitals prospect who was drafted as a fifth-round pick in 2023. He played for the Guelph Storm before joining the London Knights in December.
Allen is scheduled to appear in court on March 6.
