Over 1,000 residents without power in Lafayette, Louisville on Sunday night

DENVER (KDVR) — Xcel Energy reported that over 1,000 customers were without power in the Lafayette area Sunday night.

The Lafayette Police Department confirmed the outage, reporting that traffic lights on Highway 287 were impacted from Highway 42 to Dillon Road.

“Please avoid this area if possible,” the police agency wrote on social media. “Xcel is aware and working on the issue.”

The police department said power should reportedly be restored by 8 p.m. Sunday night. Temperatures in the area were about 29 degrees, with forecasted overnight lows of about 19 degrees.

According to the Xcel outage map, there were five outages in the area of Louisville and Lafayette impacting about 1,180 customers at about 6 p.m.
