Keys to Nuggets making the playoffs: Health and 'pop-a-shot' offense

DENVER (KDVR) — The Denver Nuggets are limping into the NBA Playoffs.

With five games remaining, the Nuggets are trying to find themselves. With a pedestrian 4-6 record in their last ten games, the recently removed champions are trying to find their stride.

How much of a concern is there in Nuggets Nation right now?

‘Colorado Sports Night’ asked Troy Renck from The Denver Post about the pulse in the Mile High City.

“Well, it should be a tremendous concern,” he said.

With several key players nursing injuries, the Nuggets fell again on the second night of a home back-to-back, losing 113-106 to the San Antonio Spurs.

“The only way they’re going to advance (in the playoffs) is if they play pop-a-shot and score 125, 130 points each game,” proclaimed Renck. “They’re not going to reinvent themselves defensively. (Head Coach) Michael Malone could yell until he’s red in the face. They’re not going to change who they are in the playoffs,” Renck said.

Ahead of the playoffs, Denver is in a game of musical chairs to see where they land in the seeding.

“It’s going to come down to being healthy and being able to score around 125 points,” said Renck. “They’re going to have to play their best offense because they’re not going to be a good defensive team. That’s just not who they are.”
