Gerber recall of baby teething sticks over possible choking hazard

ARLINGTON, Virginia: Gerber has issued a recall for its “Sooth N Chew” teething sticks following reports of a potential choking hazard, the company announced late last week.

The baby food manufacturer said it decided to recall and discontinue the product after receiving customer complaints about choking incidents, including one case that resulted in an emergency room visit.

Marketed for babies six months and older, the edible teething sticks were available in strawberry-apple and banana flavors.

Gerber stated that it is working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to carry out the recall.

The company is advising customers to return the affected products to the store of purchase for a full refund.
