WEST COXSACKIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Multiple employees were hospitalized after a gas leak was reported at the Route 9W McDonald’s in West Coxsackie.
Crews were called to the restaurant around 6:50 p.m. Tuesday where six employees were showing signs of carbon monoxide poisoning, according to the fire chief. Elevated levels of CO were detected in the building, and the six employees were sent to local hospitals for evaluation.
The source of the carbon monoxide was found to be a malfunctioning rooftop heating unit leaking gas into the building. No other surrounding buildings were affected.
The McDonald’s remains closed until repairs are made.
