Downed tree blocks roadway in La Jolla, knocks out power

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A downed tree blocked a roadway in La Jolla on Wednesday morning, also coming in contact with powerlines.

According to San Diego Gas & Electric, the fallen tree, located near Mount Soledad in the 6100 block of Calle Vera Cruz, interrupted some service in the surrounding area.

At least 63 customers, spanning from Mission Bay to Pacific Beach, were reported to be with out power due to this incident.

SDG&E said crews are working to remove the tree and limbs from the powerlines. The utility company expect repairs to be completed and power to be restored by 8 a.m.

Motorists in the area are advised to avoid the area and take alternative routes until the tree is cleared.
