Clippers owner flies over 100 fans from LA to create 'The Wall' at Ball Arena for Game 7
DENVER (KDVR) — The Los Angeles Clippers are bringing their A-game to Denver for the final game of an intense series against the Denver Nuggets.
Nuggets players might have had to do a double-take as they walked on the court to warm up for their make-or-break Game 7. Likely, ready to hear the calm before the storm in an empty Ball Arena, the players were greeted by over 100 Clippers fans, who were already causing a ruckus and trying to throw off the Nuggets.
Those rowdy fans were already in the process of creating “The Wall,” the title given to the large group of Clippers fans who stand behind the basket and try their best to distract opposing free-throw shooters.
According to a post on X from the Los Angeles Clippers, the fans were flown out by Clippers owner Steve Ballmer to bring some home crowd vibes to a crucial away game.
Ballmer worked across several roles for Microsoft, including as CEO, holding the position from 2000 to 2014. He also co-founded the Ballmer Group, an investment company.
Ballmer’s net worth of an estimated $151 billion sees himself be included in the top 10 richest people in the world, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
He is certainly one of the more involved and extroverted NBA team owners and has been integral to the continued progress of the Clippers. He financially supported the creation of the Clippers’ new arena, the Intuit Dome.
Spectators can catch Ballmer courtside, whether it be the pre-season, regular season or post-season, he always seems to stop in for a game. Ballmer has also been known to do things that many other owners would never do, like joining NBA players’ podcasts, or even flying over 100 fans to an opponent’s city to offer fan support.
In what could be the final game of the season for the Nuggets or Clippers, every little advantage matters and could be the determining factor during Game 7 on Saturday night.
