RuPaul announces 2028 presidential bid

RuPaul’s Drag Race host, international icon and the queen of drag, RuPaul, has announced her intention to run for President of the United States in 2028.

Speaking exclusively to PinkNews, RuPaul has promised to remove “nasty orange Cheeto” Trump from the White House, where the Republican President is currently serving his second term as the leader of the free world.

“I stand before you in these sickening six-inch heels, not as just the queen of drag, not just as your favourite reality TV star, but as a candidate for President of the United States in 2028,” RuPaul said, speaking from the Main Stage of RuPaul’s Drag Race – her proposed location for a new Oval Office.

“Why? The White House needs someone with charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent – and Trump already done had herses.”

RuPaul’s announcement comes at a time when queer and trans lives are under attack from the incumbent President. Trump immediately signed several anti-LGBTQ+ executive orders following his inauguration, including the American government now recognising ‘only two sexes‘ and DEI being gutted from both government and the military.

Trans individuals have also once again been banned from the military and certain sports, and Trump also instigated a ban on healthcare for trans youngsters.

“That orange Cheeto has got to sashay away, henny,” Ru added. “America has got a lot to work on—healthcare, climate change, equality. But above all, I’ll be running on a platform that makes you feel your puss down deep in your soul – every day!”

RuPaul’s proposed platform did not mention anything about fracking.

Ru shared that it was during filming for Antarctica Vs. The World with several former Drag Race alumni that she first seriously considered running for president.

“Alyssa Edwards actually said to me, she said, ‘Girlllll, that Trump is a beast!’ And I thought, ‘Huh, you know, you’re right.’” RuPaul continued, adding that Plane Jane called Trump’s drag, “As busted as Amanda Tori Meating on season 16,” and that Luxx Noir London provided a lengthy explanation that Trump should go home, and why.

“The level of unprofessionalism,” added Latrice Royale to Ru. “Far too much.”

“Child, if there’s anyone that knows how to clock bad drag, it’s me,” Ru concluded. “And Donald Trump is one bad drag queen. And if America won’t vote for a woman president, maybe they’ll vote for a Glamazon.

“As our season 10 winner whose name I have forgotten said on the remix of, ‘American’ (available to stream on iTunes), vote for, ‘Life, liberty and me!’”

And also, Happy April Fool’s Day.

New episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 air on Fridays on MTV in the US and WOWPresents Plus internationally.
