Calistoga police track kidnapping suspect's phone location to make arrest

(KRON) — The Calistoga Police Department announced on Thursday that it has arrested the man suspected of kidnapping a woman on Wednesday morning.

CPD said the suspect has been identified as Thomas Howard Phillips, 60, of Butte County. Phillips allegedly punched a woman in the stomach and then forced her into a car on the 1800 block of Lincoln Avenue at 11:50 a.m.

“Calistoga officers were able to identify the last area in Butte County where the suspect’s phone showed him to be,” said Calistoga police in a news release. “Using that information, deputies were in that area north of the town of Oroville when they saw the suspect vehicle at approximately 2:30 pm. They made a traffic stop and took the suspect into custody without incident.”

The woman was located safe in the vehicle, according to police. Police said they are interviewing the victim and suspect to get more insight into the case.

The Calistoga Police Department said Phillips faces several charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping and false imprisonment.
