LUBBOCK, Texas— With measles cases rising in West Texas, parents are raising concerns about the virus, including when measles requires hospitalization.

Covenant Health and the City of Lubbock hosted a press conference on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the measles outbreak. Covenant Health’s Chief Medical Officer, Lara Johnson, discussed how to measure the severity of the virus.

“We’ve had patients who’ve required treatment with supplemental oxygen and sometimes higher levels of oxygen in order to help them with their breathing while they’re recovering,” Johnson explained.
