Brighton woman asking for community help in clean-up

BRIGHTON, Colo. (KDVR) — A Brighton woman, fearful a 100-year-old dead tree will fall onto her home, is asking for an assist in its removal.

Beverly Martinez has lived in the home for 25 years. It’s estimated the dead American Elm tree in her backyard is about 100 years old.

Martinez requires the use of a wheelchair and cannot afford to pay a tree-removal service. Her caregiver contacted “Our Family Tree Services.” When co-owner Bryce Freeman heard Martinez’ story, he immediately agreed to remove the tree, and possibly a second one, for free.

The job could take anywhere from 3 to 6 hours.

Because it’s so labor-intensive, Freeman and Martinez are asking for volunteers to help clean up the branches and debris.

If you are interested in volunteering, you can sign up at 720-691-3047.
