SCHAGHTICOKE, N.Y. (NEWS10)– A Pittstown woman was arrested for allegedly stealing from her employer. Tara Cottrell, 38, faces multiple charges.
On December 16 around 3:34 p.m., state police responded to a complaint from a business reporting theft. Upon an investigation, troopers determined that an employee, Cottrell, was stealing from the business while employed as a bookkeeper.
Troopers determined Cottrell allegedly falsified records to steal more than $10,000 from the business between the summer and fall of 2023. On December 22, Cottrell was arrested and charged with grand larceny in the third degree; falsifying business records in the first degree; and forgery in the third degree.
After processing, Cottrell was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Schaghticoke Town Court and released. She’s expected back in court on January 6, 2025.
