Windsor police tased man they say directed dog to bite officers before it was fatally shot | CBC News

A man was tased during an incident where a dog was shot and killed by officers in Windsor Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

Authorities say the 45-year-old accused directed a pitbull mix dog to bite officers.

“The dog subsequently attacked officers and was shot after non-lethal efforts were ineffective,” police said in a statement.

Around 2 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to an area of Tecumseh Road West near Huron Church Road for a person in crisis.

Police say the man was experiencing a mental health crisis, resisted arrested, physically assaulted one officer and threatened to kill another. That’s when a taser was deployed, they say, to “gain control of the individual.”

The man faces three charges and was brought in under the Mental Health Act, according to authorities.
