Al Roker selected as Siena College 2025 commencement speaker

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10)– NBC “Today” show weather and news anchor Al Roker will take the stage as featured speaker for the 2025 undergraduate commencement ceremony at Siena College in May. In addition to his speech, Roker will receive an honorary doctor of humane letters degree.

The undergraduate commencement ceremony is planned to be the morning of May 18 at MVP Arena in Albany. Siena President Charles Seifert said the college is thrilled to have Roker attend and speak at the ceremony.

“His talents extend to a variety of journalistic platforms – interviewer, co-anchor, podcaster and YouTube host – that showcase his impressive range and a commitment to excellence in both communications and in connecting with his loyal audience to share stories of personal growth and change,” Seifert said. “As a further inspiration to our graduates, Al Roker’s passion to give back to others by raising funds for charities across the country demonstrates Siena’s Franciscan mission of service to others.”

Roker has several accomplishments from winning three Daytime Emmy Awards to making his Broadway debut in the show “Waitress,” as “Old Joe” in 2018. His time on the “Today” show began in 1996, starting an initiative in 2001 called “Lend a Hand Today,” which led him across the country to help small charities improve community conditions.
