To the naked eye, the grounds of Malahide Castle and gardens looked as they might for any dry June evening.
The weather being practically balmy saw people lounging in the well-maintained lawns, Italian greyhounds chase each other in circles of eight in between two towering oak trees, and pensioners were out for their evening stroll. A calm and quiet close to any other weekday.
