SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A 67-year-old man was hospitalized Friday morning after being struck by a pickup truck in San Ysidro, authorities said.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred around 10:10 a.m. when a 47-year-old man driving a 2017 Toyota Tacoma attempted to make a left turn from a driveway onto the 500 block of West San Ysidro Boulevard.

At the same time, police said the pedestrian was walking southbound across the roadway, reportedly outside of a designated crosswalk. Authorities said the driver allegedly failed to yield the right of way and struck the pedestrian in the right westbound lane.

The man sustained multiple injuries, including a skull fracture, facial fractures, a wrist fracture, and a brain bleed. He was transported to a local hospital, where his injuries were deemed serious but not life-threatening.

Police have confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the collision. The SDPD’s Traffic Division is continuing its investigation.
