Chennai Super Kings star and stand-in skipper MS Dhoni reunited with his former teammate and now Kolkata Knight Riders mentor Dwayne Bravo ahead of the IPL 2025 clash between their two sides on April 11. In a funny turn of events, as Dhoni met Bravo during their nets session at the Chepauk Stadium, the CSK skipper took a slight but light-hearted dig at his former teammate by calling him a “traitor”.
IPL 2025 took a surprising but exciting turn after MS Dhoni was announced to return to his captaincy role for CSK, after regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out. While Dhoni will be eyeing to lead a turnaround for CSK this season after their dire start, his first challenge comes against his former teammate’s side. But that did not hold either star back from a light-hearted reunion where Dhoni welcomed Bravo by saying, “The traitor is here.”

Bravo was part of four of CSK’s IPL title-winning seasons — in 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2022 — under Dhoni’s leadership. The former West Indies international also served as the bowling coach of the side during the 2023 season. In 2025, Bravo joined KKR as their mentor, replacing Gautam Gambhir, who took over the India head coach job.
While CSK will be heading into the fixture against defending champions KKR under pressure after losing four games on the trot, fans will be hopeful of a turnaround with the return of their five-time IPL-winning captain.
